We got the opportunity to work with AMMAs amazing Experts by Experience. The group all have some powerful Lived Experience stories. Our training helped them to understand how to tell and adapt their stories to influence decision-makers and make change, as well as how to keep themselves safe and look after their mental well-being while doing this incredibly important work. The interactive workshop talks about the challenges of sharing Lex stories in leadership roles too, and participants had the chance to try out different versions of their stories for different purposes.
We particularly enjoyed having the young experts in the room, with all the energetic toddlers taking every opportunity to join in! It was really important to this group of mothers that they could bring their little ones to the session, with AMMA providing a kid’s room, food and keeping them entertained, as child-care costs could have made this workshop inaccessible for them.
“We wanted lived experiences to make an impact in our community. To be empowered to drive political and social change in our community. The session was practical, interactive and informative” Vongayi Mufara, Advocacy and Community Engagement Manager
