We work in partnership with people with lived experience of marginalisation. We want to support them to become change-makers who activate their lived expertise, because we know that embedding lived experience leadership is the best way to make sure all organisations, services, and policies work best for individuals and their communities.

Working with
Lived Experience Leaders

Lived Expertise and Lived Experience Leadership is a powerful way to radically transform how marginalised people influence the decisions which impact their lives. We know this is at its most revolutionary when we work together, forming networks, learning from each other, and working in partnership with organisations, governments, and in other public spaces.

Our collaborative approach means that all our work is co-produced with people with lived expertise. This means we tailor our work to meet the needs of the people we work with, as well as bringing our own lived expertise to everything we do.

Below are some of the ways we work with Lived Experience Leaders. You can also click here to see our previous work.

  • We provide workshops, training, and resources for people with lived experience, empowering them to effect change in their lives and communities. These include collaborative working and facilitation training, developing leadership and campaigning skills, and learning how to stay safe and be effective when using lived expertise.
  • We develop and host networks, support, and opportunities for Lived Experience Leaders through facilitating platforms and running events. This includes facilitating peer networking and support, skills-sharing opportunities, and hosting online discussion spaces.
  • We support individuals and communities with lived experience of social injustice to connect, learn from each other, and drive change together. This ranges from supporting a local group to facilitate meetings through to our work supporting members of Lived Experience Panels advising on Scottish Government policy. Our work extends to the grassroots and governmental levels, where we advocate for integrating lived experience into policy-making and organisational strategies. By supporting Lived Experience Panels and advising on inclusive practices, we ensure that decision-making processes reflect diverse communities.
