We recognise that lived experience is a catalyst for profound transformation within organisations.  We work in partnership with organisations to integrate lived experience insights into their core strategies, policies and processes thereby creating more inclusive, equitable, and effective practices.

Working with Organisations

We provide practical tools and insights for building lived expertise into strategy, governance, and day-to-day delivery, promoting a culture of inclusivity and understanding. Our collaborative approach ensures that projects are not only informed by lived experience but are also co-created with those who understand the nuances of marginalisation.

  • We support organisations in establishing and nurturing Lived Experience panels, advisory groups and other Lived Experience engagement and consultation, creating platforms for direct and meaningful engagement with lived experience leaders. These panels serve as a bridge, bringing the invaluable perspectives of marginalised communities with firsthand experience of social injustice directly into organisational decision-making and strategy development.
  • We embed and support Lived Experience Leadership within organisations, providing support for staff and volunteers with lived experience of marginalisation to develop their leadership skills. This includes developing inclusive training, setting up staff and volunteer Diversity networks and embedding lived experience in staff development and recruitment strategy and processes.
  • Through our consultancy services, we work with boards and senior leadership teams to ensure diverse representation and inclusive governance. We support organisations to develop genuinely inclusive, accessible, and lived experience-led strategies and practices. We assist organisations with Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) strategies, plans and reviews, equitable recruitment, and creating inclusive strategies, policies and practices. This includes board, volunteer and staff EDI strategy and policies and can be combined with our lived experience-led training.
  • We offer training including disability and neurodiversity awareness, inclusive facilitation and consensus decision-making to create a more inclusive world. We deliver workshops to organisations and teams to improve their understanding and engagement with lived experience perspectives.
  • We work with organisations to help them understand how lived expertise is used in their organisations, what barriers and challenges there are for people with lived experience of marginalisation, and to discover how these can be improved. We do this by centering inclusive conversations and engagement with staff and clients or service users with lived experience in safer and inclusive spaces. We design and deliver creative and inclusive social impact and EDI evaluation.
  • We speak to organisations and at conferences championing the value of Lived Experience Leadership and genuine lived experience engagement. We participate in groups and alliances, such as the Mental Health Diverse Experience Advisory Panel and the People-led Policy Panel for Adult Social Care, influencing Scottish Government and wider public sector policies and practices so that people with lived experience of marginalisation are at the heart of decision-making.
